Riegraf
Interval Type · 2023

A geometric fusion serif that pairs high-contrast square slab letterforms with deliberately low-contrast numerals, designed as a companion to the grotesk Riegla.
About
Riegraf carries square slab serifs and high contrast in its letters, then pulls back to low contrast in numerals and currency symbols – a deliberate shift that grounds the typeface somewhere between classical serif tradition and geometric sans sensibility. Ten styles with matching italics run from Light to Black, with Latin Extended and Cyrillic coverage. It works well as a system with Riegla, Interval Type's companion grotesk, the two families sharing enough formal DNA to hold a page together.
Classification
High-contrast serif with simple square slab serifs. Deliberately shifts to low contrast in numerals and currency symbols, which read closer to a grotesk than a conventional serif. Self-described as a "geometric fusion serif". Designed as a typographic companion to Riegla, Interval Type's geometric grotesk.
