Metairie specimen from Insignedesign

A high-contrast cursive script drawn from nineteenth-century American pharmaceutical labelling, with ornamental fleur de lis swashes and an extensive ligature set.

About

Inspired by apothecary labels and elixirs of the 1800s, the design features sensuous, occasionally exaggerated letterforms with strong contrast weighted toward the lower portion of each character. An expanded OpenType character set includes distressed alternates, swash ornaments based on the fleur de lis and a broad ligature library for added handwritten variety. Best suited to headlines and short display copy where its period charm can register fully.

Classification

High-contrast cursive script with expressive, sometimes exaggerated letterforms inspired by nineteenth-century pharmaceutical and apothecary lettering. The emphasis on the lower portion of each character and the scrawled quality distinguish it from formal calligraphic scripts.
