Aviano Wedge specimen from Insignedesign

A display wedge-serif drawn from late 19th-century engraved letterforms, offering six weights with 40 discretionary ligatures and extra-wide proportions.

About

Inspired by period signage in Asheville, NC, Aviano Wedge applies sharp triangular serifs to a broad, comfortable width inherited from the wider Aviano family. The design references banknote engraving traditions, lending it a sense of institutional authority suited to luxury and financial applications. Six weights and extensive OpenType features, including automatically substituting ligatures and alternates, extend its typographic range.

Classification

Sharp triangular wedge serifs place this firmly in the wedge or Latin serif tradition, drawing on 19th-century engraved letterforms associated with banknotes and financial typography. The broad proportions and extra-wide stance align it with the display Latin style.
