blackletterBroken script (Gebrochene Schrift)
Palmona Plus specimen from IngoFonts

A 1930s-era geometric blackletter built entirely from straight strokes and sharp angles, evoking woodcut or paper-cut craftsmanship, with OpenType alternates and support for traditional long-s usage.

About

Palmona Plus strips every curve from the broken-script tradition, constructing each letterform solely from straight lines, which gives the typeface a strong woodcut quality while remaining largely legible against modern expectations. A small set of capital letters retain distinctly Fraktur or Gothic character, and OpenType standard and contextual ligatures manage alternate glyph substitution automatically. The font also includes a long s and a capital ß, both triggered automatically when the conditional ligatures feature is activated, with correct Fraktur typesetting rules in mind.

Classification

A geometric blackletter in the Fraktur/Gothic tradition, distinguished by its total elimination of curves in favour of straight strokes and sharp angles, giving it a woodcut or paper-cut character rooted in 1930s German broken-script design.
