Maier's Alte Nr. 21 specimen from IngoFonts

A digitisation of a hand-lettered circa-1900 German technical alphabet from the Otto Maier Verlag, preserving the rough edges and geometric Jugendstil character of the original galvano-produced specimen.

About

The source material is a narrow 7cm-wide galvano plate from a lettering guide for technical draughtsmen, published by Karl O. Maier shortly before the First World War. The digitisation retains the characteristic uneven edges of the hand-drawn original, giving the geometric forms a perceptible handmade quality. Uppercase letters come in a secondary decorative variant, and the lowercase shows a striking degree of abstraction for its period.

Classification

A digitisation of a hand-drawn lettering specimen from circa 1900, showing strong geometric construction with late Jugendstil characteristics including slender forms and a raised optical centre. Classified as display due to its decorative, historically specific character and origin as a single-alphabet hand-lettering guide.
