About
Amhara maps the structural characteristics of Ge'ez – including wide verticals emphasised by horizontal pen angle, open lower arches and the small hooks and attachments typical of semitic writing – onto Latin lowercase letters, with several glyphs borrowed directly. The uppercase forms avoid pointed triangular shapes, resulting in an unusually rounded set of capitals that reads calmly even in all-caps settings. A lighter companion, Amhara Book, moderates the exotic tension of the main weight for improved readability.
