A Didone display serif in five weights with matching italics, designed for fashion and editorial contexts where high contrast and ball terminals are called for.
About
Zesta draws on the French modern serif tradition of the late 18th and early 19th centuries, with vertical stress, extreme stroke contrast and prominent ball terminals in both upright and italic cuts. The large x-height and ascending letters that clear the capitals give it presence at display sizes, while OpenType features add oldstyle figures, discretionary 'ct' and 'st' ligatures, and alternate single-storey lowercase letters in the italics. The ten styles span Light to Black, each paired with a true italic.
Classification
High-contrast serif with vertical stress axes, hairline strokes and ball terminals characteristic of the Didone (modern) style originating in late-18th-century France. Intended primarily for display use, following the tradition of fashion and editorial typography.
