A four-weight humanist sans designed for traffic signage and wayfinding, with true italics at 11°, 20 arrow glyphs per font and a large x-height built for legibility at distance.
About
Designed by Elliott Amblard and released in 2016, Guide addresses the specific demands of signage: uppercase letters and numerals share a common cap height with ascenders rising slightly above, and diacritical marks are deliberately prominent for multilingual clarity. The italics are true italics rather than sloped romans, with dynamic alternate forms on the 'a', 'b', 'e' and 'p'. A contextual alternates feature shortens the 'f' before ascending letters, and stylistic sets offer a single-story 'g' and smaller arrow variants.
Classification
Humanist sans-serif designed specifically for traffic signage and wayfinding applications, with large x-height, prominent diacritics and true italics distinguishing it from geometric or grotesque alternatives.
