About
Commissioned by 20th Century Studios and Disney for the 2022 film Rosaline, the lettering was developed from archival sources including the NYPL digital collection and the Letterform Archive, mining period calligraphy and drop caps for structural reference. The final mark merges a clean modern serif with historical swash detailing to reflect the film's tone: a contemporary retelling of a period story. Multiple concept directions were explored, ranging from strict period-inflected lettering to loose, hand-drawn scripts referencing teenage infatuation.
