A single-style display typeface channelling the fluid, script-inflected lettering of 1930s French and Spanish advertisements, with the tactile quality of scissor-cut paper.
About
Drawn specifically for short titles and expressive words, GS Maquis combines sharp, distinctive letterforms with the spontaneity of handwritten lettering and the rough physicality of cut paper. The design takes its cues from the commercial lettering traditions of interwar France and Spain, lending it a period character well suited to editorial or branding contexts. Originally released in 2020 and revised to v1.2 in 2025, it covers an extensive range of Latin-based languages.
Classification
A single-style display typeface drawing on fluid, script-like letterforms from 1930s French and Spanish advertising. Its handwritten spontaneity and cut-paper tactility place it firmly in the expressive display category rather than conventional script.
