GT Maru
Grilli Type · Thierry Blancpain · 2021

A rounded Latin sans drawn from Japanese signage traditions by Thierry Blancpain, extending into mono, mega-display and emoji subfamilies.
About
Inspired by the rounded English lettering found on signage across Japan, GT Maru blends the looseness of sign painting with the precision of engraved type. Released in 2021 across 25 styles, the family spans five weights with obliques, a monospaced variant, oversized Mega cuts in Mini, Midi and Maxi optical sizes, and a colour emoji set. OpenType alternates include single-storey a and g, multiple outline and glow treatments, making it one of the more considered rounded sans families available.
Classification
GT Maru is a rounded sans-serif drawing on Japanese Latin signage traditions, combining sign-painting warmth with mechanically engraved letterform qualities. The consistent terminal rounding and soft geometry place it firmly in the rounded sans subcategory.
