Developed from books printed in Soviet-occupied Estonia, GT Eesti takes the mid-century Soviet geometric sans 'Zhurnalnaya Roublennaya' as its starting point and adapts it for contemporary use. The family splits into Text and Display subfamilies, each running across multiple weights with matching italics, totalling 28 styles. Both Latin and Cyrillic scripts are fully supported, with OpenType features including circular dot alternates, compact accents and an alternate 'w' and 'v' for the Text cut.
