A uniwidth sans-serif designed by Marcus Gärde and Anders Wikström specifically for digital interfaces, where all five weights share identical character widths to prevent text reflow during state changes.
About
GD Unio solves a common UI problem: weight changes causing layout shifts in buttons, hyperlinks and labels. By fixing each character's horizontal advance across Regular, Medium, Semibold, Bold and Extra Bold, the typeface keeps all surrounding elements stationary regardless of weight toggling. Three widths – Standard, Narrow and Condensed – are available, each sharing the same uniwidth logic, and a variable font spanning all axes is included with the family purchase.
Classification
A clean geometric sans-serif designed around the uniwidth principle, where all weights and styles share identical character widths. Its neutral, functional forms are characteristic of geometric UI typefaces.
