A humanist semi-serif designed for a medtech brand, balancing clinical precision with warmth across four weights plus italics and a variable font, optimised for screen reading.
About
Originally commissioned as a bespoke typeface for Praxis, a medtech brand, GD Praxio pairs open, hand-influenced letterforms with pared-back serifs that guide the eye without ornamentation. Subtle stroke modulation and considered proportions sustain reading comfort at small screen sizes, whilst the weight range from Regular to Bold gives sufficient hierarchy for both body copy and headlines. The family includes a variable font and supports over 200 languages in Latin script.
Classification
Classified as serif due to its defining characteristic of reduced, functional serifs used to aid reading rhythm. The foundry calls it a 'humanist semi-serif', placing it between humanist sans and traditional serif traditions, with hand-influenced letterforms and subtle stroke modulation.
