Metroflex Narrow specimen from GarageFonts

A narrowly proportioned geometric sans in five weights with obliques, inspired by Fritz Lang's 1926 film Metropolis and drawing on the rational traditions of Univers, Futura and DIN.

About

Designed by Thomas Mettendorf, Metroflex Narrow aims to fit the visual logic of Lang's Metropolis – engineered and urban, with a mechanistic consistency across its ten styles. The family draws openly from rationalist antecedents including Steile Futura and DIN, adapting those influences into a contemporary, multipurpose system. Related members Metroflex Wide and Metroflex Uni extend the overall Metroflex type system.

Classification

A geometric sans with machine-like construction drawing from Univers, Futura, Steile Futura and DIN – all hallmarks of the rationalist geometric tradition. The narrow width and engineered consistency place it firmly in that subcategory.
