A refined revival of Zvi Narkiss's 1980 Hebrew serif, optimised for text sizes with two optical subfamilies covering both Hebrew and Latin scripts.
About
Originally designed for phototypesetting, Narkissim became one of the most widely encountered Hebrew typefaces in Israel, appearing in street signs, books and Microsoft Office documents. The new version from Fontef separates Text and Headline optical sizes, each available in Regular and Bold, with spacing and proportions tuned for 8–12pt use. OpenType features include small caps sized to Hebrew cap height, old-style figures, tabular figures and a variable font version.
Classification
A regular-contrast serif designed for continuous reading in Hebrew and Latin, with soft, delicate strokes and slightly narrow proportions. Originally created for phototypesetting, it sits within the transitional serif tradition adapted to the Hebrew script.
