Centaury
Fond de riz · Justine Gagnaire

A revival of wood type letterforms sourced from the H. W. Caslon & Co specimen 'Caractères en bois', offered in text and display cuts with matching italics.
About
Designed by Justine Gagnaire, the typeface is drawn directly from what is described as the most complete wood type specimen ever offered to master printers, published by H. W. Caslon & Co. Four styles are provided: regular and italic at text scale, and a display variant with its own italic. The font is available as a free download.
Classification
A revival of wood type letterforms drawn from a Caslon & Co specimen, placing it firmly in the display category with the oversized, high-contrast characteristics typical of nineteenth-century wood type printing.
