Monoflow
Finaltype · Prof. Hans R. Heitmann · 2020

A fixed-width typeface from 2020 that introduces contextual letter repositioning within the monospace grid to improve optical spacing without breaking the fixed-width constraint.
About
Monoflow applies a technique in which individual glyphs shift position within their fixed-width bounding box depending on neighbouring characters, preserving true monospacing while reducing the optical unevenness typical of the format. Designed with code editors in mind, it also targets corporate and graphic design contexts, and performs well at small sizes. The family includes a distinctive bold and italic, and covers more than 37 Latin-script languages.
Classification
A fixed-width typeface designed explicitly for monospaced use, drawing on typewriter aesthetics while incorporating humanist letterform sensibilities for improved readability and character.
