A free slab serif hybrid drawn for the Mexican government, with support for Mexico's Indigenous languages.
About
GMX was the Mexican government's typeface from 2018 to 2024, used on the passport, Tren Maya stations and federal communications. Its mix of slab and serif endings and its sculpted details give it a steady editorial voice. Enigma built the Indigenous language support with INALI, the national institute for Indigenous languages, and the family has won five design awards.
Classification
A humanist hybrid of slab and bracketed serif; Tipo de Letra lists both endings. Medium contrast and medium x-height. Light, Regular, Bold and Black with italics, plus small caps. Over 9,000 glyphs, with Mexico's Indigenous languages developed with INALI. Free to license on Tipo de Letra.
