About
Cubic 22 takes its cues from typefaces fitted to Olivetti machines such as the Lettera 22, Studio 45, and Facit TP1 and TP2. Rounded terminals soften what are otherwise angular, closed-aperture letterforms, preserving the mechanical feel of the source material. The result sits between the rigidity of a conventional typewriter face and a more considered geometric construction.
Classification
Inspired by typefaces designed for Olivetti typewriter models from around 1960, Cubic 22 reproduces the monospaced, closed-aperture character of mid-century typewriter type with rounded edges and angular roundness typical of that genre.
