Alica specimen from Dotless type

A bold display face rooted in letterpress wooden block tradition, combining Latin, Cyrillic and Arabic scripts into a unified family through exaggerated ink traps and heavy strokes.

About

Originally conceived for wooden letterpress blocks, Alica exaggerates stroke weight and ink traps to achieve a richly detailed display character that sits between modern and classical sensibilities. The family covers three scripts — Latin, Cyrillic and Arabic — harmonised in form while respecting the heritage of each. Stylistic alternates, including four uppercase M variants and Arabic ligatures, extend its expressive range considerably.

Classification

Designed originally for wooden letterpress blocks, with exaggerated ink traps, heavy strokes and numerous stylistic alternates. These characteristics place it firmly in the display category, with a hybrid quality between historical wood type and contemporary decorative design.
