Kohl
Dogray · José Solé & Sahar Afshar · 2025

A three-optical-size display serif from 2025, derived from a 19th-century Miller & Richard antique and pushed toward razor-sharp triangular serifs and deliberately clashing horizontal strokes in its largest size.
About
Conceived from an 1873 Miller & Richard specimen, Kohl retains the sturdy condensed capitals of the original Antique No. 8 while pairing them with an entirely redesigned lowercase built around triangular serifs and extreme angular precision. Three optical sizes – S, M and L – each carry seven weights from Hairline to Heavy, with the L size amplifying contrast and intentional serif collisions for maximum display impact. A variable font is included alongside static instances, and the family supports over 370 languages across extended Latin.
Classification
A contemporary display serif with sharply triangular serifs, high contrast and deliberately extreme angles, rooted in a 19th-century condensed antique model but pushed toward expressive, occult-inflected drama across three optical sizes.
