MegaMegaTypeType
A calm neo-humanist sans from Makoto Kamimura, in 20 numbered weights from hairline to black, each with a slanted partner.
About
Astro pairs the open, classical forms of a humanist sans with the vertical order of a neo-grotesque, so it reads smooth and quiet rather than mechanical. Weights are numbered 1 to 95 in steps of five, which gives unusually fine control over colour. It is sold only as the complete 40-style family.
Classification
The foundry describes Astro as a 'neo-humanist sans serif', blending the classical proportions and organic forms of humanist sans serifs with the vertical rhythm and regularity of neo-grotesque design, resulting in a calm, low-contrast typeface.
