DB Clariday Serif
Delta Bravo Type · 2018

A seven-weight serif family born from a 2018 design collaboration with the California Academy of Sciences, drawing inspiration from archival field notes and specimen labels.
About
Conceived during a tour of the California Academy of Sciences' private natural history collections in San Francisco, the design takes its cues from the typography found in the institution's archives, field notes and historical books. Seven weights from Thin to Black are supported by a thorough set of OpenType features including lining and oldstyle proportional figures, tabular glyphs, fractions, bulleted figures, currency symbols and uppercase punctuation.
Classification
The typeface's origins in historical field notes, archival labels and books from a natural history museum suggest a humanist serif with organic, calligraphic influences rather than a strictly rational or geometric approach.
