A formal script commissioned by Richard Turley for Interview magazine in 2021, balancing the penmanship tradition of Doyald Young against peep-show neon energy and an extensive set of wild swash capitals.
About
Drawn by Miguel Reyes and named after Andy Warhol's superstar Candy Darling, this typeface occupies an uneasy space between disciplined calligraphic structure and deliberate bad taste. It ships with an unusually rich set of OpenType features: seven stylistic sets of swash alternates for ascender letters, titling capitals, swash capitals and alternate lowercase forms, offering considerable scope for variation. Originally a custom project for Interview magazine, it is now available through Commercial Type's Vault archive.
Classification
A formal script typeface with flowing cursive letterforms rooted in the tradition of Doyald Young's penmanship lettering, augmented by wild swash capitals and bizarre alternate forms that push it toward display territory.
