Versailles Gate interprets the ironwork of the Versailles palace gates — flowers, crosses and suns — as letterforms and symbols, making autobiographical experience the basis for its design. The character set includes numerous ligatures and decorative glyphs that extend its ornamental language beyond a conventional Latin alphabet. It was initially released via Solitype before becoming available directly through the designer's own foundry.
