Idyll
Céline Hurka Type Foundry · Céline Hurka · 2025

A set of 26 monospaced decorative initials and floral ornaments drawn as a love letter to an organic farm near Florence, its wildflowers and the friendships formed there.
About
Each of the 26 initials is drawn with a monospaced footprint, allowing them to sit together with consistency, while the accompanying floral ornaments reference specific plants – lavender, orchids, sage – observed during time spent at Terrafranta farm in the Tuscan hills. The work carries a deliberate ecological charge, commemorating species under threat from climate change and land exploitation. Released in January 2025, it is the first typeface from Hurka's foundry that year.
Classification
Idyll consists of 26 monospaced decorative initials paired with floral ornaments, placing it firmly in the display/ornamental category. The monospaced structure of the initials is a functional constraint rather than a text-type characteristic.
