Commissioned by Adobe Fonts to mark the Bauhaus centenary, this typeface reconstructs Alfred Arndt's 1923 poster lettering into a full alphabet with three width alternates per uppercase letter and a lowercase added in 2022.
About
Based on the few letterforms visible in Arndt's original 1923 poster, the design is a considered interpretation rather than a strict revival, expanding a fragmentary source into a workable typeface family. The uppercase offers three alternates per letter for width variation, while all punctuation exists in bold and light versions as a direct nod to Bauhaus typographic playfulness. A Silver Cube from the ADC recognises the project's distinction, and it sits within Adobe's Hidden Treasures of Bauhaus collection alongside four other commissioned typefaces.
