About
The design is rooted in a 1766 specimen by Isaac Moore, then manager of Joseph Fry's Bristol foundry, whose types drew heavily on Baskerville's innovations. Carter reversed the damage done by 19th-century standardisation, reinstating oldstyle figures, proper descender lengths and swash characters to recover the regal quality of the original. The family is modest in scope, offering just Regular and Regular Italic, but each cut is carefully considered.
