A custom slab serif family designed exclusively for power-tool manufacturer Metabo, delivering 2 variable and 14 static fonts across Latin, Greek and Cyrillic as part of a 2024 brand relaunch.
About
Commissioned through Strichpunkt Design, the family carries forward Metabo's slab serif identity established in the 1960s while addressing the demands of contemporary digital applications. Coverage spans 120-plus languages across three scripts, with Cyrillic consultancy from Maria Doreuli and Botjo Nikoltchev and Greek consultancy from Gerry Leonidas. The project won a German Design Council award for 2026 and was mastered by Olli Meier at Fontwerk.
Classification
A bespoke slab serif family developed for the Metabo brand, continuing the company's established slab serif typographic identity from the 1960s while meeting contemporary digital requirements. The family includes variable and static fonts across Latin, Greek and Cyrillic scripts.
