About
Raban takes its cues from geometric wooden typefaces such as Blok and Rex, channelling the worn, imperfect character that comes from physical use. Rather than a conventional weight axis, heavier styles expand outward while lighter styles compress, producing inherent contrast within the family. The result is a set of headline faces suited to expressive typographic compositions where tension between weights does much of the work.
Classification
Inspired by geometric wooden typefaces, Raban combines weight and width axes unconventionally, with bolder weights expanding and lighter weights condensing. Ink traps, rounded edges and deliberate imperfections place it firmly in the expressive display category.
