Wagner Script Pro specimen from Canada Type

A revival of a 1920s Leipzig script typeface that circulated across Europe under multiple names, drawing on the lighter, more refined Gracia cut made by Amsterdam Lettergieterij in the late 1930s.

About

Originally produced at the Wagner & Schmidt foundry in Leipzig as a bold script called Troubadour, this design later received a lighter, more elegant treatment from the Amsterdam Lettergieterij under the name Gracia. It was a common presence on perfume bottles and wine labels throughout the mid-twentieth century. Canada Type has revived it under a consolidated name that acknowledges its true origin.

Classification

Continental metal-era script revival, originating at Wagner & Schmidt, Leipzig c.1926, with later lighter cut by Amsterdam Lettergieterij in the late 1930s.
