Tuba specimen from Canada Type

A decorative display family rooted in 1960s/70s art nouveau and late-1970s tube aesthetics, originally designed as a custom commission for a North American ice cream chain in 2009.

About

Tuba began as a commissioned alphabet in 2009, reworking a 1972 design concept by Swiss graphic designer Erwin Poell and absorbing influences from several other Canada Type releases. The family includes a main style alongside Highlight, Outline and an all-cap Black variant. Its visual character blends period art nouveau curves with the chunky, rounded tube lettering popular in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
