Salden specimen from Canada Type

A typeface drawn from the lettering of Dutch book cover designer Helmut Salden, whose work set the standard in the Netherlands for more than four decades.

About

Helmut Salden was a central figure in 20th century Dutch design, best known for book cover work that remained commercially active and exhibited long after its creation. Canada Type's Salden fonts are derived from his hand lettering, focusing on his characteristic attention to counter space. The foundry notes that Salden never completed a typeface himself, making this an interpretive rather than a strict revival.

Classification

Based on the lettering work of Dutch book cover designer Helmut Salden rather than a specific historical typeface. Rooted in attention to counter space and calligraphic skill.
