De Roos Romein was designed during the Second World War and publicly revealed in the summer of 1947 to mark De Roos's 70th birthday. Unlike his earlier roman faces, which drew on the Jenson model, this design turns to Renaissance letterforms, and its italic is particularly admired. Canada Type has digitised the family and expanded it beyond the original metal release.
