About
Press Gothic Pro is based on Metropol, designed by Aldo Novarese for the Italian Nebiolo foundry in 1967 as a rival to faces such as Impact, Compacta and Helvetica Inserat. Metropol saw brief use in Italy, Germany and France but never made it to film or digital formats, remaining in metal until this revival. The project aimed to give the face the presence it had been denied by the technological shifts of the 1970s.
