scriptbrush
Middleton Brush specimen from Canada Type

A retooling and expansion of Robert Hunter Middleton's Wave (Ludlow, 1962), a mid-century brush script built on sturdy strokes with deliberate thinning in the counterspaces.

About

Middleton Brush derives from Wave, a brush lettering face released by Ludlow's Robert Hunter Middleton in 1962 as the studio's answer to the then-ubiquitous Brush Script. The design uses firm, rhythmic strokes that thin where open space requires it, producing a confident and approachable alphabet. Unlike many brush scripts, it accepts a degree of letter-spacing without losing coherence.

Classification

Mid-century brush script based on Robert Hunter Middleton's Wave (Ludlow, 1962), retooled and expanded. Tolerates letter-spacing, distinguishing it from contemporaries such as Brush Script.
