About
Mauritius was designed by Georg Trump beginning in 1965, following his earlier Garalde work on Trump Mediaeval, and represents his exploration of the transitional genre late in his career. Weber foundry previewed it under the name Barock-Antiqua before releasing metal types in roman, bold and italic in 1968, but the rise of cold-type technology meant it found few takers and was largely ignored by typographic history. Canada Type's revival brings the design to digital use for the first time.
