Lyra is built on a constantly shifting pen-angle, which gives the letters light verticals and heavier curves through a steep pen position relative to x-height. It combines the fullness of Roman letter construction with the movement of handwriting, aiming to recover an evolutionary path that metal type interrupted. The design is explicitly grounded in classical Renaissance principles applied to late medieval calligraphic technique.
