Loxley specimen from Canada Type

Jim Rimmer's final typeface, a humanist serif drawn from early incunabula Roman models and remastered for current technology in 2013.

About

Loxley was conceived for a fine press edition of Robin Hood folklore and takes its name from the hero's reputed birthplace. Its forms draw on the same early Roman sources that informed Frederick Goudy's later designs, while also carrying the distinctive traits of Rimmer's left-handed calligraphic approach, particularly in exit strokes and serif variation. The remastered release includes over 450 glyphs, stylistic alternates, a full set of f-ligatures, a Th-ligature and basic fractions.

Classification

Inspired by early incunabula Roman faces such as Subiaco (late 1400s); left-handed calligraphic influence from Jim Rimmer; remastered 2013.
