A blackletter designed specifically to work within modern marketing contexts, aiming to retain strength and texture without the period associations that make most existing blackletter fonts difficult to integrate.
About
Leather was developed in response to the use of blackletter in campaigns for sports clothing, beverage and entertainment brands, where the foundry observed that existing blackletter types tended to overpower surrounding design elements. The concern was that most blackletter fonts carry too strong a historical time-stamp, limiting their applicability in contemporary layouts. Leather attempts to preserve the genre's visual weight and character while reducing those period-specific traits.
Classification
Designed to address perceived limitations of existing blackletter fonts in modern marketing contexts. Avoids excessive period-specific character while retaining blackletter strength.
