Lapis Pro specimen from Canada Type

Jim Rimmer's Lapis Pro combines a nib-driven hand-drawn base with typographic traits from Egyptian, Latin and blackletter traditions into a single advertising text family.

About

Lapis extends the territory Rimmer explored in Lancelot and Fellowship, but with greater depth and a wider range of historical references. The surface impression is of an advertising text face, but the construction weaves together elements from Egyptian, Latin and blackletter genres in a way that resists easy categorisation. The nib-driven drawing method underpins the whole, as it does in much of Rimmer's work.
