About
Kumlien Pro is based on one of the very few original Swedish typefaces, designed by book designer and artist Akke Kumlien. The upright weights draw on both oldstyle forms and the European deco aesthetic of the 1930s and 40s, giving the design an idiosyncratic character beyond straightforward historical revival. The italic takes a different path, using a calligraphic sharpness and roundness rhythm that the foundry describes as almost postmodern.
