Guillotine draws on an uncredited early-1970s film face called Rhythm Bold, stripping away its uneven round forms and rebuilding the design around precise stroke widths and angles. The result sits somewhere between psychedelic lettering and mechanical construction, with references to woodcut letters, punch card forms and art nouveau ideas from the 1960s. A slight suggestion of hand-drawn character remains despite its otherwise rigid structure.
