Crescendo was designed by Patrick Griffin and Nancy Harris Rouemy specifically for the New York Times magazine's 2009 commemorative issue, following their collaboration on the 2008 edition. The typeface centres on exotic tri-line letterforms engineered for vertical flexibility and deployable in single or multiple colours. The issue in which it appeared won multiple publication design awards.
