Clarendon Text Pro

A contemporary digital remake of the classic Clarendon slab serif, optimised for extended reading across advertising, books and corporate literature.
About
Clarendon Text Pro takes its main design cues from the 1953 Hoffmann and Eidenbenz reworking of the nineteenth-century English slab serifs attributed to Vincent Figgins and Robert Besley. The italic styles are informed by Aldo Novarese's 1955 Egizio. The family is intended for sustained reading as well as display use, balancing distinctiveness with legibility.
Classification
Contemporary remake tracing its primary lineage to the 1953 Hoffmann/Eidenbenz Clarendon and the mid-nineteenth century English slab serifs of Figgins and Besley; italics informed by Novarese's 1955 Egizio.
