A digital revival of Stefan Schlesinger's reverse-stress slab serif designed in 1939 for Lettergieterij Amsterdam, a type that never received a commercial name until now.

Basilio recovers a design that lost its intended name – Figaro – to Monotype, which finished its own reverse-contrast slab first. Schlesinger's version for the Amsterdam foundry was renamed and appears here in digital form for the first time. The reverse-stress construction follows the model of display types associated with French newspaper titles of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
