Bagatelle specimen from Canada Type

A display typeface built entirely from ruler-and-compass geometry, using a 1974 album-cover logo mark as its skeletal source and developed as an exploration of interpolation and adaptive form.

About

Bagatelle draws on a logo designed by Fabio Nicoli for Supertramp's Crime of the Century album as the structural basis for a fully constructed alphabet. Every letterform is derived from basic line-and-circle geometry, taken to what the foundry describes as aesthetic and technological extremes. The project was used as a testing ground for interpolative processes and the limits of adaptive morphing in current type technology.

Classification

Alphabet constructed from line-and-circle geometry; design concept traced to a 1974 logo mark by Fabio Nicoli for Supertramp; developed as an interpolative type system.
