Annonce specimen from Canada Type

A digitisation of the 1912 Johannes Wagner Foundry's Aurora Grotesk, an extended bold grotesque with angled humanistic cuts intended for large-scale display use.

About

Annonce is based on Aurora Grotesk, a typeface that predates the dominance of mid-century Swiss grotesques and was used as a prominent signage face in its day. Angled terminal cuts on certain letters introduce a mild humanistic character that distinguishes it from more neutral grotesques of the period. The digital version comes in regular and italic, with a character set covering the majority of Latin languages.
