Amethyst Pro
Canada Type · Jim Rimmer

Jim Rimmer's second body-text typeface, a roman and italic family that fuses classic American roman structure with subtle European art deco influences.
About
Amethyst grew from a set of display capitals Rimmer drew in the mid-1990s under the name Maxwellian, to which he gradually added lowercase letters and figures as his work demanded them. By around 1997 the design had evolved into a complete roman and italic suitable for text setting. Its combination of American roman tradition and deco sensibility attracted attention in the print industry, particularly on Canada's west coast.
Classification
Body text face merging classic American roman with European deco influences; developed piecemeal from the mid-1990s by Jim Rimmer, including roman and italic.
